Save a Life $15

One day while reading the local paper I came across the story of a doctor in Malawi who found a way to use a peanut butter mixture to bring children back from the brink of starvation. He has a 95% success rate for otherwise healthy kids. The article said that his treatment is half the price of fortified milk (the accepted method of treating starvation) and safer to use! Best of all, this “treatment” was just under fifteen US Dollars per child! I was astounded!

Like most people I had always felt a bit bad that I had not done more to help those less fortunate than I, but I was never really in a position to pledge money to those commercials to help the starving kids. But this was different, this wasn’t about ongoing support, this was about saving a life…for 15 bucks!!!!

I was excited! I thought, “Well here is an easy sell, no lifelong commitment, $15 a pop to save a life, even a mediocre marketer could help this doctor to save thousands of lives!” …but it never happened.

So here I am, a novice at marketing taking up the challenge. I have a small but growing online store through which you can donate to this worthy cause. I have labeled the item “Hunger Treatment” and priced it at $15 each.

In the interest of honesty I will say that I will take a small portion for overhead as neither the administration of the store nor this emailing is free and I am currently unemployed and am unable to sustain the project myself.  I anticipate overhead to be about 5%. The amount that will actually get to the children will still be equal to or greater than that which is needed for the complete treatment back to health.

$15 is a dinner, a movie or maybe a cheap CD to us.

In the right hands it could be life to them!
